  1. Basic FSSAI Registration

In Kerala, FSSAI license must be certified from the Kerala State Government. Any Food Operator with a maximum annual turnover of  INR 12 lakh must be certificate as a basic Kerala FSSAI if it tries to operate within the state at a small size.

 

  1. Kerala FSSAI State License

 

Kerala FSSAI State License must be achieved by small to medium-sized food operators such as storage units, transporters, wholesalers, labellers, retailers, marketers, distributors, etc.

 

The Kerala FSSAI State License can be acquired from the Office of Commissioner of Food Safety in Kerala. The state FSSAI license allows the business to functions only within one state, and with Kerala FSSAI license, the business can only operates in the Kerala. A state license can be acquired by any company which has an annual turnover limits of between INR 12 lakhs and INR 20 crores.

 

  1. Kerala FSSAI Central License

 

Kerala FSSAI Central License must be acquired by food operators including importers & exporters, large-scale manufacturers, government agency food  operators, airports catering operators etc.

 

A food company also needs a central FSSAI license if it aims to functions in more than one state. The Central FSSAI license is certified by the Central FSSAI Authority from its headquarters. Any food business with an annual turnover limiting over INR 20 crore must acquire a central FSSAI license.

 

 

FSSAI License and Registration Procedure

The procedures and requirements involved in the Online FSSAI  registration process are:

 

  • Application Filling

 

Any applicant that wants to obtain Kerala FSSAI license  must submit an application with the FSSAI authority at the State or Central level as per their needs. The application must be filed along with the needed documents and along with the prescribed fees. Once the application is received, a unique application reference id is provided to the applicant.

 

  • Kerala FSSAI License/Registration Fees

 

The following fees must be paid with the FSSAI registration application:

 

  • If the production is over 1MT (Metric Ton) per day: INR 5000
  • If the production is less than 1MT per day: INR 3000
  • If the production is 501 to 10,000 LPD of milk in a year: INR 3000
  • If the production is 10,001 to 50,000 LPD of milk in a year: INR 5000
  • If the food business is a restaurant or hotel having up to 4 Stars: INR 5000
  • All Miscellaneous Food Business Operators: INR 2000

 

  • Verification by FSSAI

 

The FSSAI conducts a detailed verification of the documents and place of operation provided and mentioned by the applicant. After complete verification, the FSSAI Registering Authority provides the  FSSAI License or certification.

 

Rejection of Application

If the Authority rejects the application, it informs the applicant within 7 days from receiving the submitted application, with the reason of rejection.

 

Validity of FSSAI License

 

The Kerala FSSAI License is valid for a time period of 1 to 5 years. The food business operator has the freedom to opt the number of years they wish to acquire the license.

 

Documents Needed

 

  • Form B to be filled and attested by the applicant.
  • The layout of the processing unit showing the dimensions.
  • List of Directors of company with full address and contact details.
  • Name and record of equipment and machinery along with the number, installed capacity and horsepower used.
  • Identity and address proof of directors.
  • List of Food types desired to be manufactured.
  • Letter of authorisation with the name and address of person nominated by the manufacturer.
  • Analysis report of water to be used as an ingredient in food from a recognised public health laboratory to validate the portability.
  • Proof of possession.
  • Partnership deed
  • Copy of certificate got under the Coop Act,1861.
  • NOC and license proof from the manufacturer.
  • Food safety management certificate.
